Atletico beat Levante to move top above Barcelona
Diego Simeone's side won 2-0 and climbed a point clear of the Catalan giants, who suffered their first league defeat against Real Madrid last weekend.
In a compelling match at Valencia, Atletico Madrid secured a 2-0 victory over Levante, propelling them temporarily to the top of La Liga ahead of Barcelona. The Catalan team faced their first league defeat of the season at the hands of their fierce rivals Real Madrid just the previous weekend. Diego Simeone's side edged ahead by a single point, thanks to a powerful offensive display and two well-deserved goals from Alejandro Grimaldo and his father, Giuliano Simeone.
Barcelona will face Alaves later in the week, while Atletico gears up for a Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday, followed by a La Liga showdown against Barcelona at the Metropolitano stadium.
