A native Mac panel for the Android Emulator, with an MCP server built in

Most of our Android work happens on a Mac with the emulator open next to Android Studio. Over time we collected a pile of adb one-liners for the small checks we run all day. Switch to dark mode. Bump the font scale. Look at spacing in dp. Peek at what an app wrote to SharedPreferences. Oh My Android is what we built to stop retyping them. It is a native macOS app that docks next to the Android…

Android developers often use a Mac to run an emulator alongside Android Studio, performing numerous checks throughout their daily workflow. To streamline these tasks, they developed Oh My Android, a native macOS application that operates adjacent to the emulator and provides a suite of tools within easy reach. This software also includes an MCP server, enabling external agents to view and interact with the emulator's screen.

Oh My Android is open-source and available on GitHub under the MIT license. The project was initiated on September 24, 2026, and has since released eight versions, with the latest being v0.4.6, released on October 19. Users can install Oh My Android via Homebrew using the command "brew install --cask ateymoori/tap/oh-my-android." Alternatively, a signed and notarized zip file is also provided on the releases page.

The application is compatible with macOS 26 Tahoe or later on Apple Silicon, along with the Android SDK. Android Studio supplies the necessary SDK, but command-line tools are also compatible. Ah My Android encompasses 48 actions categorized into 9 groups, including Appearance, App, Capture, Network, Layout and Performance, Accessibility, Navigation and Input, Simulate, and Font size adjustments.

This extensive array of features allows developers to quickly identify layout issues at various text sizes and examine shared preferences and SQLite databases for debuggable applications.

The built-in MCP server, named ohmyandroid-mcp, exposes 18 tools and three prompts, keeping their list concise to ensure quick loading times for any AI agent. Screenshots within the tool display pixel measurements in dp, and the UI tree is presented line-by-line, detailing each element's index, role, label, position, size, and action. Access control within the app allows users to restrict agent actions to read-only or full control modes, with destructive tools flagged for potential data loss.

To connect Oh My Android with AI agents, users can enable setup commands for Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini CLI, as well as plugins for Cursor and VS Code. Additionally, there's a Claude Code plugin and a .mcpb extension for Claude Desktop. The MCP server is listed in the MCP Registry as io.github.ateymoori/oh-my-android. The application is free of telemetry and account tracking, updating daily through Sparkle with optional updates disabled.

Oh My Android is lightweight in terms of energy consumption, as it only receives updates via adb track-devices stream, limiting refreshes to one per batch. It was featured in Android Weekly, Issue #747, and is maintained by Royan AB.
