US weighs new Iran strikes as Vance reaches out: Is war or a deal closer?
As Washington and Tehran send mixed signals, analysts say trust remains a key obstacle to any deal.
US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he believes the war with Iran will end soon, though he did not provide details on how that might occur. Speaking in an interview with the Kansas City radio station KCMO ahead of the November 3 midterm congressional elections, Trump said, “It’s going to get wrapped up soon.”
Trump noted that the United States requires a guarantee that Iran will never possess a nuclear weapon. Ajel English further reported that Trump expressed uncertainty regarding Iranian leadership.
Meanwhile, CBS News reported that Qatari mediators have returned to Tehran to promote a deal between the United States and Iran. Trump acknowledged this outreach while maintaining that his threats remain on the table.
