Ruthless Cats crush Bulldogs in AFLW finals statement
Geelong is set up for a big crack at their first AFLW flag, thumping the Western Bulldogs to lock in a top-two finish.
The Geelong Cats executed a ruthless performance to secure a 68-point win over the Western Bulldogs in the AFLW finals, firmly securing their spot in the top two. Led by five-goal performance from Jacqueline Parry, who returned from injury, and three from Chantal Mason, Geelong dominated the match at Kardinia Park. The Cats showcased their class above the Bulldogs, leading by seven goals in the first half, ultimately scoring 88 to the Bulldogs' 20.
With defending premiers North Melbourne facing Richmond on Saturday, Geelong (11-1) is positioned to finish no lower than second on the ladder. The Bulldogs (8-4), showing improvement in their third season under coach Tam Hyett, now have a stark reminder of their realistic standing in the premiership race after this defeat.
