Police arrest pastor, accomplice over Abuja car theft

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command in Abuja has apprehended Edwin Nwabueze, a pastor, and Sadiq Jamiu, an accomplice, for the alleged theft of a Toyota Camry. The vehicle was stolen from UTC Plaza in Garki, Abuja. Nwabueze, who identifies as a pastor from Salvation Power Bible Ministry in Benue State, was arrested at his residence on October 27 following an investigation into the theft.

Despite hailing from Oji River, Enugu State, he currently resides in Benue. Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh revealed that Nwabueze guided officers to Jamiu's location, where the latter was subsequently arrested. Investigations have also connected the suspects to prior arrests by the Benue State Police Command concerning vehicle theft cases.

Authorities allege that the pair are part of an interstate vehicle theft syndicate involved in the theft and sale of vehicles across various states. The police emphasized that their inquiries are ongoing, aiming to determine the syndicate's full operations and apprehend other members still at large. Both suspects are currently in custody and will face charges in court once investigations are complete.
