NSCS consults stakeholders on new security strategy

The National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) is conducting consultations in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions to gather stakeholder perspectives on Ghana's National Security Strategy for 2026-2030. The three-day event, which commenced in Techiman, Bono East, enables participants to evaluate the 2020-2024 strategy and identify emerging security threats.

NSCS Deputy Director of Legal, Mr George Loh, noted similar consultations were being held across all 16 regions to ensure the new policy reflects regional security concerns and priorities. The consultations aim to gather regional viewpoints on security risks, vulnerabilities, and emerging concerns, as well as substantive stakeholder input for a forward-looking strategy.

Loh emphasized that every Ghanaian is now a stakeholder in the country's security, and identifying regional security risks will help the Council develop practical measures to strengthen national security. Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council Chief Director, Mr Joseph Frimpong Naayo, welcomed the initiative, describing it as crucial for improving regional security.

He pointed out that the Ahafo Region's mining, forestry, and agricultural activities offer economic opportunities but also present security challenges that need effective management.
