Not hearing your notifications on Android Auto? You’re not alone

An Android Auto bug has been causing notifications to go unheard for some users, according to reports. While a pop-up will still appear on the screen to alert drivers of incoming messages, there's no accompanying sound to be heard through the vehicle's speakers. This issue seems to be affecting devices running Android 17 and Android Auto 17.9 or newer.

Reports suggest that the bug may be the reason why Android Auto has reportedly started forgetting how to play a sound when a notification arrives. Despite the platform's attempts to pause music in an effort to play the notification alert through the car's speakers, drivers are still missing out on important incoming messages.
