New chapter in creative design begins in Hong Kong

Hong Kong's Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is set to launch its inaugural flagship exhibition, DesignInspire 2026, showcasing design ideas and influences shaping our living environment. Co-organized by the Hong Kong Design Centre and led by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), the event will feature a diverse array of innovative concepts and foster cross-cultural dialogue among brands, organizations, and visionaries globally.

The ABITO/HK exhibition, curated by Chilai Howard, juxtaposes Italian and Hong Kong lifestyles and cultures over the years. The "Cabinets of Wonders" transforms Swiss alpine cabins into an intimate space, presenting premium lifestyle products, cutting-edge concepts, and immersive experiences that highlight the creative connections between Hong Kong and Switzerland.

Renowned Swiss design studio atelier oï will curate "Breathing in Motion" with Tribe22, exploring the subtle interaction between body and space, stillness, and movement. Lighting master Tino Kwan and interior designer CM Jao will present "House of Lumiere," debuting locally. The exhibition will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from November 18-21.

The theme "Wander & Wonder" encourages visitors to explore various zones, gain new perspectives, and discover the impact of diverse design approaches on their emotions, thoughts, and imaginings. The event will bring together exhibitors, creative talents, and professional buyers, offering opportunities for exchange, collaboration, and discovering something special.

The ABITO/HK exhibition is a collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong and Macau, design studio Palomba Serafini Associati, and supported by Italian and Swiss creativity. Featured works include kinetic artist Joseph Chan's artwork inspired by Parmigiani Fleurier's tourbillon mechanism and Nick Tsao's and Marc Schweizer's reinventions of traditional paper-cutting methods with digital techniques.
