National Theatre to host Funworld 2026

Doha has seen the start of the Qatar National Theatre Renovation project, announced by the Public Works Authority, or Ashghal. This endeavor aims to update the theatre's facilities and technical capabilities, improve safety standards, and maintain its unique architectural identity and cultural importance. The renovation will involve rebuilding sections of the theatre, alongside upgrades to its audio-visual systems and stage equipment.

These enhancements will align the venue with modern theatre design and operation standards, while ensuring it remains ready to host artistic performances and cultural events.

Project Engineer Eng. Faysal AlQahtani stated that the renovation project reflects Ashghal's dedication to developing Qatar's cultural infrastructure. The aim is to modernize the theatre's facilities and equipment according to the latest standards and technologies, enabling it to host a variety of artistic performances and cultural events.

He emphasized that the Qatar National Theatre is a significant cultural landmark due to its cultural and artistic value and the numerous events it has hosted over the years, enriching Qatar's cultural and artistic landscape. The project underscores the commitment to developing the venue while preserving its distinctive architectural character and cultural relevance.

The renovation is part of broader efforts to enhance Qatar's cultural infrastructure and ensure it has the modern facilities necessary to support future events, catering to the needs of artistic and cultural performances and contributing to the continued growth of the country's cultural scene.
