Madhya Pradesh Plans Major Urban Expansion With New SADAs In Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain And Jabalpur, Farmers To Get 50% Developed Land Back

Madhya Pradesh government is set to establish Special Area Development Authorities (SADAs) in the cities of Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Jabalpur, according to recent developments. The MP Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) has commenced work towards implementing this plan, with the establishment of SADAs planned near the western and eastern bypasses in Bhopal, along the ring road in Jabalpur, and on the Indore and Ujjain roads, as well as on the Ujjain and Jawra roads.

A separate agency has been established for SADAs in Ujjain and Indore, replacing the previous roles of the Urban Development Department (UDD) and the Industries Department (ID). These amendments to the SADA rules allow road-building agencies to develop SADAs, and the government will utilize the land pooling scheme to allocate land for this purpose.

The state government and farmers will provide some plots of land for SADA development, with 50% of the land expected to be returned to farmers after development under the SADA scheme.

Currently, the state has five SADAs located in Pachmarhi, Gwalior, Counter-Magnet Khajuraho, Maheshwar-Mandleshwar, and Orchha. The government is set to acquire substantial land for the development of new SADAs, only acquiring those plots it will develop itself. Bharat Yadav, the Managing Director of the MP Road Development Corporation, revealed that the department has commenced surveying potential sites for SADAs near Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore, and Ujjain. Once the survey is complete, the RDC board will make a final decision.

Yadav added that various organizations, including development authorities and the MPIDC, will collaborate to develop SADAs, which can encompass a wide range of activities such as cricket stadiums, degree colleges, hospitals, industries, and townships.
