Kho-Kho Coach, School Principal Booked 5 Months After 14-Year-Old Boy's Electrocution In Kamothe

Navi Mumbai: A five-month investigation led to the registration of a case against the kho-kho coach and the principal of Dattusheth Patil School in Sector 9, Kamothe, following the accidental electrocution death of a 14-year-old boy. The FIR was filed at the Kamothe police station following a complaint from the deceased's father and a police inquiry.

Dadasaheb Dattatray Yedke (14) was playing kho-kho on school premises when he was asked by the coach to install a halogen light on a tree near the playground. The incident occurred on May 30, 2026, at around 7:32 pm. The boy suffered an electric shock and died at MGM Hospital in Kamothe the next day. The father, Dattatray Namdev Edke (42), accused the coach of assigning a dangerous task to his minor son, while also naming the school principal for alleged negligence.

The police are currently investigating the case under Sections 106(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
