Kenya: Kenya's Army Has Not Announced Recruitment Through October 2026 Gazette Notice Circulating Online

A circulating notice on Facebook claims the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will begin recruitment through October 2026, but the army dismissed it as fake. The notice, styled as a Kenya Gazette, lists various positions including officers, specialists and tradesmen. Applications were to open on October 28 and close on November 27, with academic qualifications and age limits specified.

KDF comprises the Kenya Army, Kenya Air Force and Kenya Navy, responsible for national defense. The notice has been posted multiple times on various websites, but its authenticity could not be verified as it was not listed on Kenya Law's official archive. In response to the fake notice, KDF warned the public on its official Facebook page about fraudulent recruitment advertisements promising opportunities in exchange for money or personal information.

The army clarified that all recruitment opportunities are announced through mainstream media, the Ministry of Defence website and KDF's official social media platforms.
