How the Duel of the Century Ended: The 2021 Formula 1 Finale

The 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was a unique event, as the leading contenders, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, entered the race with an equal point tally. This intense finale took place at the Abu Dhabi Circuit, drawing significant interest from fans and bettors, including those at 1xBet Kenya. Hamilton, driving for Mercedes, aimed to break the record held by Michael Schumacher, while Verstappen, with Red Bull, sought his first championship title to end Mercedes' long-standing dominance.

Verstappen began the race from pole position, but Hamilton managed to take the lead due to a more precise start. When aggressive attacks didn't change the outcome, both teams displayed a relentless effort. As spectators with access to the best betting lines for various sports followed the race, Verstappen's teammate closely guarded Hamilton's position.

With five laps remaining, Hamilton led by over 10 seconds. The safety car came out on the track on lap 53, causing a restart. This event shifted the balance in favor of Red Bull and Max Verstappen, who pitted for fresh Soft tires, gaining a crucial advantage. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton remained on track, using heavily worn Hard tires.

Despite the safety car's influence, race director Michael Masi allowed overtaking on the final lap, resulting in Max Verstappen crossing the finish line first and becoming the world champion for the first time.
