Hael Husaini unveils new single ‘Selesa’, an emotional tale of love and letting go

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 — Malaysian singer-songwriter Hael Husaini has unveiled his latest single, "Selesa", an emotionally charged track exploring the complexities of love and the bittersweet act of letting go. The song, co-written and composed by Hael and Iqie Hugh, has already garnered over 5,800 views on YouTube since its midnight release today.

Drawing inspiration from unrequited love, selfless devotion, and the sacrifices one makes for a loved one, Selesa narrates the story of someone who gives their all to a relationship, only to realize that love alone isn't enough to guarantee a future together. In a particularly poignant moment, the protagonist must accept that their beloved may find happiness with someone else, despite the pain of parting ways.

Through its lyrics, the song encapsulates the emotional struggle of understanding that walking away can sometimes be an act of love, even when the person's heart still yearns for them. Hael expressed that "Selesa" embodies the reality of love and the lengths people are willing to go to make someone they cherish happy, even if it means sacrificing their own feelings.

He hopes the song resonates with those who have experienced similar situations and provides comfort to those navigating the challenges of letting go. The official music video for Selesa will be released tonight at 9pm, filmed in Jakarta, Indonesia. The video stars Malaysian actress Anna Jobling alongside Indonesian actors Antoni Blanco Junior and Mahdy Reza, who have been gaining recognition through their roles in local television dramas.

Directed by Prialangga in Jakarta, the visual narrative complements the song's themes of love, sacrifice, and unspoken longing. Following the release of Selesa, Hael has also released "Garah", a collaboration with Mimi Fly, marking his latest musical offering to fans. Additionally, "Selesa" has been chosen as the main soundtrack for the local television drama series "Suamiku Anak Mak", which premiered on October 26 via Astro.

The drama, featuring Emma Maembong, Keith Foo, Izzue Islam and an ensemble cast, delves into the intricacies of complicated relationships and emotional struggles, making the song an integral part of the series. Hael's musical journey extends beyond Malaysia, with a scheduled performance at the ROUND Festival in South Korea on November 8, 2026.

This milestone appearance will showcase his artistry to an international audience, bringing Malaysian music to a broader stage.
