India will launch its second-generation satellite navigation system, NVS-03, on Friday, October 30, at 11:51 pm IST using the GSLV-F18 rocket. This marks the 20th flight for the GSLV rocket and aims to enhance the indigenous NavIC system. NVS-03 will be placed in a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit and carry an Indian-made atomic clock, which is crucial for accurate location tracking.
The launch comes as NavIC faces challenges due to the malfunctioning of several existing satellites. ISRO plans to strengthen the NavIC system with the successful launch of NVS-03, which will also introduce an additional signal for better compatibility with smartphones and navigation devices.
