‘Fully committed’ Fernandes to remain Man Utd captain

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has stated that Bruno Fernandes is "fully committed" to the club and will continue as captain. Carrick dropped Fernandes to the bench for Sunday's 3-0 home defeat by Bournemouth, following the Portuguese player questioning tactics in a 4-1 Champions League defeat by Como. This defeat left Carrick's future uncertain, but the 45-year-old manager will be in charge for Tuesday's trip to Chelsea.

Fernandes and Carrick held talks on Tuesday to clear the air and move forward. Carrick reiterated that Fernandes remains a crucial player for the team, emphasizing that there are "no issues" with his commitment to the club. With United currently having gone eight games without a win, Carrick's future remains unclear, but he does not require assurances over his position.

He expressed no surprise at still being in the job, stating that his focus is on doing his best for the team.
