DVAC searches places linked to former DMK MLA in Vellore
The searches are part of the ongoing probe at 25 locations across Tamil Nadu linked to former Minister and DMK leader K.N. Nehru in connection with an alleged ₹634-crore cash-for-jobs scam
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) carried out searches at various locations connected to former DMK MLA A.P. Nandakumar in Vellore on Thursday morning. The operation, initiated around 8 a.m., involved teams from Vellore and Ranipet headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DVAC) S. Ganesan and Raju from Vellore.
Nandakumar, who has been a two-time MLA from the Anaicut Assembly constituency, was present during the searches at his residence in the village. The searches were initiated as part of a broader investigation into 25 sites across Tamil Nadu related to former Minister and DMK leader K.N. Nehru's alleged ₹634-crore cash-for-jobs scam in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department.
Two distinct teams, each comprising at least six officials, conducted the searches at Nandakumar's house, which lasted for over 11 hours. Prior to the searches, numerous DMK supporters and local functionaries gathered in front of Nandakumar's house in Katpadi. Police personnel were deployed to maintain order and prevent any disturbances, as directed by Superintendent of Police N.U.
Sivaraman. Following the searches, Nandakumar stated, "We (DMK) are not afraid of DVAC searches, which are being conducted in anticipation of upcoming bypolls in Assembly constituencies imposed by the TVK government. DMK will win the bypolls. We have not committed any wrongdoing. DVAC has not seized anything from my house."
