Degree holders: Sindh govt to launch internship programme from Nov

In a bid to provide practical experience and employment opportunities to degree holders, the Sindh government has announced the launch of an internship programme through the Iwork4Sindh platform, starting from November. Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, emphasized the significance of practical skills and professional training in today's era, stating that traditional education alone is insufficient for securing employment.

The Sindh government aims to create a platform where young people can utilize their abilities and access better opportunities, taking practical measures to enhance their professional capabilities. In collaboration with companies, the government is also launching physical short courses on the Iwork4Sindh platform to develop young people's skills in line with market requirements.

As of now, the Iwork4Sindh platform has recorded over 5.3 million visits, with 137,770 registered candidates and 726 registered companies. Currently, 26,677 active job opportunities are available on the platform, with 480,000 applications submitted. During the past three months, 4,800 candidates have completed various courses, and approximately 6,000 candidates are undergoing training in different courses.

In addition to the internship programme, the Sindh government is conducting career counselling sessions to guide young people and aid them in choosing better career paths for the future. These sessions, which occur 18 to 20 times a week, are aimed at helping young individuals make informed decisions about their professional journeys.
