3 new Netflix shows you should binge-watch this weekend —including a buzzy new Scandinavian thriller (Oct. 30-Nov.1)

This weekend, Netflix is releasing three new shows that are worth binging for the perfect end to October. The first is a Swedish psychological thriller called A Couple of Lies, adapted from Stefan Ahnhem's best-selling crime novel. The story follows wealthy spouses Helene and Carl who agree to a home swap with Scarlett and Adam, but soon discover that their seemingly perfect exchange turns toxic as secrets and betrayal emerge. With twists and turns, it's a dark and suspenseful ride.

Next is Dangerous Liaisons, a prequel to the classic 18th-century novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. This eight-episode period drama sets the stage in pre-revolutionary Paris for the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, who meet as young lovers before becoming scheming adversaries. The drama chronicles their rise to the top of the French aristocracy through seduction and deceit.

Finally, for a lighter option, fans of country music icon Reba McEntire can spend time at Happy's Place, the second season of which arrives on Netflix on November 1. The sitcom follows Bobbie, a Tennessee woman who inherits her father's tavern and discovers that she shares the inheritance with her younger half-sister. Season 2 sees Bobbie and her sister navigating the reopening of the tavern, as well as Bobbie's growing feelings for the venue's head chef.
