25 Halloween-Themed Hip-Hop Songs to Soundtrack Your Weekend
DMX, Run-D.M.C., The Fresh Prince & more have captured the spooky vibes on wax.
Halloweekend is upon us, bringing with it candy, costumes, and festivities. Expect to encounter characters like Nikki from Obsession, Daejon Love pretending to be an NFL player, Velma costumes still delivering a 50-point performance, Spider-Man outfits, and Heated Rivalry themes. But before the treats pile up and drinks are served, a proper Halloween celebration requires the perfect soundtrack.
While today's popular music may suffice, diving back into hip-hop's history reveals how many great artists have tapped into the eerie spirit of the holiday. Notable names like DMX, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Offset, Ice Cube, Method Man, and OutKast have all drawn inspiration from Halloween and the numerous films that have terrified us over the years.
Some artists, such as Brotha Lynch Hung and the Flatlinerz, have even established themselves in the "horrocore" sub-genre. Though not every performer has paired their frightening tracks with visuals, they have been vivid enough to ignite the imagination of listeners worldwide. Hip-hop truly shines when it tells a story, but putting those tales into auditory form demonstrates the exceptional talent of these artists.
Whether you're heading to a haunted house, trick-or-treating, or hosting a spooky season party, here's a collection of 25 Halloween-themed hip-hop songs to elevate your weekend.
