2007 T20 World Cup-winning squad member named Mumbai Indians batting coach as MI announce new coaching staff ahead of IPL 2027
Uthappa, McClenaghan and Kulkarni have previously represented Mumbai Indians as players. Pollard, meanwhile, has been associated with the franchise for 16 years.
Mumbai Indians have unveiled their upcoming support team for the Indian Premier League 2027, introducing a new coaching staff to bolster their preparations. Robin Uthappa, Mitchell McClenaghan, T. Dilip, and Dhawal Kulkarni will join head coach Kieron Pollard in guiding the team. Uthappa, a former member of India's 2007 T20 World Cup-winning squad, brings valuable experience from domestic and franchise cricket.
McClenaghan, who played a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians' title wins from 2015 to 2020, will now lead the bowling unit. Dilip, who worked with India's men's team during their recent T20 World Cup victories, will oversee fielding strategies. Kulkarni, a two-time IPL champion with Mumbai Indians, will focus on developing the team's bowling resources, particularly young Indian bowlers.
The new coaching setup aims to address Mumbai Indians' below-average performance in the previous season, as the franchise has been a five-time IPL champion.
