Apple launched iOS 27.2 on October 26, rolling out an array of new features to iPhones. Siri AI receives notable upgrades, now capable of recalling past conversations, drawing from additional contexts like photos attached in Messages, and answering queries in seven languages including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.
A new settings menu allows users to control which apps Siri, Search, and suggestions can access. Selecting this menu leads to Settings ➝ Siri ➝ Excluded Apps. This feature enables users to fine-tune privacy and control.
Siri responses can now be copied with granular text selection, allowing users to choose specific portions of the response to copy. Suggestions in Messages have been refined to help users take quick actions such as scheduling Calendar invites or creating reminders based on the conversation context. This feature appeared during the iOS 27 beta but was held back until now.
Shared Albums in Photos receive three enhancements: users can now edit captions and comments, the app will prevent duplicate photos from being added, and a reminder will appear before an album expires to encourage participants to save important media. iOS 27.2 introduces SynthID watermarking, which helps identify AI-generated or modified images in Photos and Image Playground. The Games app gains a 'Friends' tab displaying context and recent games played by friends.
Apple TV users can now create profiles in the account settings section on iPhone and iPad. Profiles can be designated for adults or children, with child profiles limited to PG-rated content by default. FaceTime now supports Dual Capture, allowing the streaming of video content from both the front and rear cameras simultaneously on compatible devices running iOS 27.2. Multiview in the Apple TV app expands to the iPhone, enabling users to watch up to four live sports streams at once.
The iPhone Duo receives Apple Pencil USB-C support and an Edge Light feature that illuminates the face during video calls. Lastly, iOS 27.2 introduces a reminder feature that alerts users of a contact's anniversary during a call, provided the anniversary date is added in the Contacts app.
