Trump scraps last US midterm rallies
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump is scrapping two of his final midterm election rallies, his Republican Party said on Thursday, as the 80-year-old leader lashed out at a reporter who asked whether he was tired of travelling.
US President Donald Trump has canceled two of his final midterm election rallies, according to his Republican Party. The Republican National Committee (RNC) announced that Trump will hold virtual telerallies in several states instead of the events in Kansas and Iowa. Republicans are striving to maintain control of Congress in the upcoming November 3 midterms.
Despite his poor approval ratings, Trump has encouraged the party to pretend he is on the ballot to boost voter turnout. Kansas and Iowa were previously scheduled for in-person rallies, but the RNC stated that these events will no longer occur. Trump's final election rally is now set to take place in Florida on Friday. The 80-year-old leader has maintained a demanding schedule of nearly daily rallies throughout October to support Republicans in the midterms.
During an interview on Thursday, Trump became irate when asked if he was canceling the Kansas rally due to fatigue. Trump retorted, "You're sick to ask that question. You are sick, I feel perfect. You are disgusting. Put yourself in shape, you look like hell."
