Everton will host Newcastle United in the final Premier League tie in Thursday night's fourth round of the EFL Cup at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. This match will be the first of two encounters between the clubs, with another set to take place at St James' Park four days later. Following an impressive eight-match unbeaten run across all competitions, Everton has since lost two straight Premier League games to Chelsea and Arsenal, each by a 2-0 scoreline.
Only three teams in the Premier League currently sit below Everton (eight goals) and are in the relegation zone, prompting Everton manager Moyes to hope his team can avoid a three-match winless run for the first time since late 2022. Everton has advanced to the cup fourth round after victories over Preston (4-0 away) and Wolves (1-0 at home), seeking a deep run in domestic cup competitions for the first time since the 1994-95 FA Cup triumph.
Newcastle, who have scored in 10 of their 11 league matches this season, could prove a stern challenge given their solid attacking form.
