SHARE3DCAM Announces Major 3DGS Upgrade and New Mesh Generation in SHARE PointClouds Studio V2.7.0

SHARE3DCAM has released version 2.7 of its PointClouds Studio software, introducing significant upgrades to 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) reconstruction and mesh generation capabilities. This latest version, V2.7.0, enhances the visual reconstruction of scanned spaces and offers new tools for presenting and communicating the appearance of captured environments.

The update improves the structural color and brightness details in 3DGS models, providing clearer layouts, more natural colors, and finer texture detail, particularly for indoor scenes. Users can now adjust clipping regions in 3DGS models to isolate specific areas of interest, with the ability to undo adjustments as needed. Skybox visibility controls allow users to show or hide the sky background when inspecting and presenting scenes.

V2.7 also introduces mesh generation from point clouds, generating 3D Tiles output with optional formats such as OSGB, GLB, and PLY. These surface models enable captured spaces to be used in compatible 3D visualization and modeling tools. Users have the option to choose between Photo Texture and Point Cloud Color Texture modes, each offering different trade-offs in texture clarity and structural reconstruction quality.

The release also brings semantic point clouds, generated when semantic recognition is enabled during point cloud mapping. These point clouds carry predefined semantic labels and can be viewed by category, aiding users in inspecting the mapped scene through its recognized classes. Additional features include stockpile volume measurement and conversion between various units of measurement.

The update also improves point cloud processing by reducing noise around object edges, provides storage estimates, and offers improved graphics processing unit (GPU) and system memory estimates to help users plan processing tasks. SHARE3DCAM is offering V2.7 of PointClouds Studio for free, with no subscription or per-seat licensing fees, available from October 20, 2026, through their official website.
