Private jet firm used by Flávio Bolsonaro previously sparked scandal for Milei

Baires Fly SA, the private jet company used by Flávio Bolsonaro during his trip to Miami following his defeat in Brazil's presidential run-off, is currently embroiled in a corruption scandal. The company's manager, Sergio Mastropietro, was accused of involvement in a kickback scheme related to Argentina's disability agency, ANDIS.

Mastropietro has ties to Federico Machado, who is currently awaiting sentencing in Texas for conspiring to commit money-laundering and wire fraud. Baires Fly has not commented on the allegations. The ANDIS case caused a political crisis for Argentine President Javier Milei in August 2025, as he fired the agency's director after leaked audio allegedly discussed bribes and referred to Milei's sister.

Argentine prosecutors allege that Mastropietro issued over 100 million pesos, around US$71,000, in invoices to pharmaceutical companies suspected of participating in an inflated price and kickback scheme. Mastropietro received wire transfers of over US$800,000 from one of Machado's US-based companies. Machado was charged with drug-trafficking, money-laundering, and financial crimes involving an estimated US$350 million, though the drug-trafficking charge was later dropped.
