PM Shehbaz Announces Free Lunch Program for Govt Schools

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has implemented a free lunch program to ensure students receive proper nutrition. During a high-level meeting aimed at enhancing education in Islamabad, he directed Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal to resolve identified issues promptly. The government must provide students with a safe and conducive learning environment, and smart boards are to be installed in all government schools.

The Federal Directorate of Education is being transformed into a more effective institution, with a focus on teachers solely concentrating on teaching and educational activities. Teacher recruitment will be strictly merit-based. Shehbaz Sharif also instructed authorities to expand the government school bus service and outsource student transportation services, subject to third-party validation.

Other initiatives include promoting solar energy, installing ramps for students with disabilities, and providing quality medical facilities. Islamabad already has basic facilities in most government schools, but infrastructure-related issues exist in some institutions.
