Nvidia responds to report on CEO Jensen Huang-alleged Chinese spy interactions: ‘No trade secrets shared’

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang may have fallen victim to a spy operation backed by Chinese intelligence, according to a recent report. The suspect, believed to be the Chinese intelligence asset, is a senior executive named Alice Huang, also known as Huang Le. She is suspected of passing information to Beijing while working as the managing director of Singaporean AI firm Megaspeed.

Megaspeed is an Nvidia cloud partner that builds data centers and rents out compute resources to Chinese firms such as Alibaba. The discovery of Nvidia equipment still in boxes at Megaspeed's Malaysia data center raised suspicions that the machines were either just received or were about to be shipped out. U.S. intelligence agencies have been aware of Alice Huang's activities for over a year, and even briefed President Donald Trump on the matter.

However, Trump reportedly decided not to take any action due to concerns about Nvidia sales and not wanting to antagonize China. U.S. officials have not informed Jensen Huang about the surveillance, possibly to avoid alerting him about the investigation.
