NCS opens AI Mission Centre in Ang Mo Kio, to triple embedded AI engineers to over 300
Singtel-owned firm NCS has opened an AI Mission Centre in Ang Mo Kio to triple its pool of embedded AI engineers from 100 to over 300 over the next two years. The centre is designed to help organisations accelerate the deployment of AI projects from proof of concept to production-scale. NCS CEO Sam Liew revealed that the embedded engineers will work closely with clients to co-create solutions tailored to their businesses, enabling them to eventually own and operate them.
NCS will also bolster its capacity by reskilling existing employees and hiring new staff. The firm entered three partnerships to scale up AI projects at Changi Airport, the Institute of Mental Health, and Life3 Biotech. In collaboration with Changi Airport Group, NCS aims to enhance and scale up iFerret, a runway surveillance system that employs AI to detect foreign object debris as small as 4cm along a 4km runway.
The technology has already been deployed in the Middle East and Hong Kong. Additionally, NCS will work with the Institute of Mental Health on an AI-powered facial recognition system to improve patient identification and safety monitoring in inpatient care settings, with the system to be expanded to all 50 wards and psychiatric wards in other hospitals.
