Man Utd’s under-fire boss Carrick faces tough trip to Chelsea
The Premier League visit to Stamford Bridge may be his last chance to halt an alarming slump, with the club languishing a point above the relegation zone.
Manchester United's manager Michael Carrick faces a critical Premier League match against Chelsea this weekend. United, currently just above the relegation zone, are on an eight-game winless streak in all competitions. Carrick's team has been battling player unrest, which included dropping captain Bruno Fernandes for their loss to Bournemouth.
Fernandes was benched after criticizing United's tactics following a 4-1 Champions League loss. United currently has seven points from eight matches and will face Chelsea, who lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Carrick must decide whether to continue benching Fernandes or recall him for the crucial match. The other Premier League leaders, Manchester City, will play Brighton & Hove Albion, while Arsenal faces Liverpool after their League Cup upset loss.
