iPhone Duo Screen Cracking Mystery May Finally Have an Explanation

Apple allegedly lowered quality inspection standards for the iPhone Duo to accelerate production before the holiday season, as some users reported cracked inner screens, according to a Chinese news outlet. An unnamed Foxconn employee stated that Apple reduced quality checks to speed up shipments, although the company maintains that only a small number of devices are affected.

Users have complained about cracks near the hinge, sometimes accompanied by unusual noises. A separate investigation suggests that a small component inside the hinge mechanism may be causing the cracking sounds, but Apple has not confirmed this as the cause.
