India mahu perluas kerjasama pendidikan, ekonomi dengan Perlis

India seeks to explore new avenues of cooperation in education and economy sectors with Perlis, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations, said Somnath Ghosh, India's High Commissioner to Malaysia. The visit took place at the Blue Pavilion, Arau Palace, where Ghosh met with Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, the King of Perlis, and Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, the Queen of Perlis.

Accompanying them were Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Perlis, Waris Yang Kedua Negeri Perlis, Syed Sirajuddin Areeb Putra Jamalullail, and Syedha Farah Adriana Jamalullail, the Crown Princess. The statement from Arau Palace noted that both sides discussed various new cooperation opportunities for mutual benefit, including potential collaborations in education and economy sectors.

Ghosh emphasized that the visit aimed to further deepen the long-standing India-Perlis relationship, which dates back to the visit of the Third Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, to India in 1961. He added that the historic visit laid the foundation for the modern diplomatic ties between the United Kingdom of Malaya, which later became Malaysia, and India.

India values the role of the Perlis royal institutions in promoting harmony and progress, Ghosh noted. Reflecting on his first day in Perlis, Ghosh commended the King and Queen for warmly receiving him and expressed confidence in the continued growth of India-Perlis relations. On his first day in Perlis, Ghosh also attended a ceremony on the state's investment potential, in addition to participating in several joint programs with Tuanku Syed Faizuddin.
