How We Programmatically Scaled a Privacy Directory to 215K+ Pages Across 31 Languages

As developers, we love building robust architectures, clean database models, and snappy user interfaces. But once the code is deployed, reality sets in: distribution is the hardest part. Over the past few months, I’ve been building and scaling EraseRegistry.com—a programmatic utility directory designed to help users navigate account deletions, data removal, and digital privacy across 31…

At EraseRegistry.com, a programmatic directory aimed at assisting users with account deletions, data removal, and digital privacy, we encountered a significant challenge: scaling the platform to host over 215,000 indexable pages across 31 languages. Traditional monolithic approaches, which involve manually creating pages, proved inadequate when dealing with such a large volume of target services.

Instead, we adopted a data-driven structure to dynamically map service metadata, deep-links to account closure settings, difficulty scores, and step-by-step instructions.

To render pages instantly for users while ensuring Googlebot could efficiently crawl the site and maintain a healthy crawl budget, our engineering approach had to prioritize technical SEO. Proper internal linking structures, canonical tags, and localized routing were crucial to avoiding duplicate content issues and ensuring smooth indexation across all language variations. The system had to adapt seamlessly to the 31 distinct language and regional sets, ranging from European markets to global linguistic communities.

Our localization strategy involved dynamic route generation to maintain clean URL structures, even when accounting for locale parameters. Localization pipelines were established to ensure that step-by-step instructions and UI elements adapted smoothly to each language, with clean propagation of data updates across all localized versions to prevent layout issues and translation key errors.

Search engine optimization (SEO) at this scale required a focused effort on crawl budgets and domain authority. To build sustainable trust with search engines, we focused on organic, high-trust engineering practices. This included submitting the utility and privacy tools to curated GitHub lists via Pull Requests, launching the platform on platforms like Product Hunt and AlternativeTo, and implementing clean technical foundations such as hreflang tags, optimized sitemap segmentation, and fast server-side response times.

The combination of these strategies allowed us to not only index thousands of pages but also establish a solid domain authority, making the platform valuable for users seeking to manage their digital footprint with ease.
