Awais Ali Shah's remarkable 5-33 bowling performance propelled the UAE to a rare victory in an ODI match against Oman. The left-arm spinner achieved the feat at the ICC Academy in Dubai, helping his team secure a four-wicket win. This marked just their ninth win in 34 matches in Cricket World Cup League Two, placing them at the bottom of the eight-team competition.
As a result, the UAE will have to participate in the World Cup Qualifier Play-off in December, where their future participation in ODI cricket will be determined. Awais, who debuted on a U.S. tour earlier this month, had yet to take a wicket before this impressive outing. His hard work and dedication to the game have caught the attention of the UAE cricket management, leading to his selection for the national team.
