EPL: Fernandes will remain Man United captain — Carrick

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has confirmed that midfielder Bruno Fernandes will continue to serve as the club’s captain, despite recent tensions regarding the team’s performance. Fernandes had been omitted from the starting lineup for United’s 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth, following reported disagreements with Carrick over tactical decisions following a Champions League loss to Como.

However, the two held discussions to resolve their differences on Tuesday. Carrick dismissed any speculation that Fernandes might lose his captaincy, emphasizing Fernandes' commitment to the club and his role in improving the team's performance. The United boss also stated that Fernandes remains fully committed to the club and that there are no underlying issues affecting their relationship.

Carrick's position has come under scrutiny due to a poor run of results, with the team currently without a win in eight games. Despite this, Carrick remains focused on improving the team's performance and guiding United to victory in their upcoming match against Chelsea.
