Coworkee: a modular framework for .NET that handles the boring parts of every app

I've built enough line-of-business apps to know which parts are always the same. Login. Roles and permissions. Tenant filtering. An admin area. An audit log. Every project starts with me copying the same skeleton and then fixing the same bugs I fixed in the last one. A while back I stopped copying and started packaging. Coworkee is the result — a modular framework for .NET 10 with a Blazor UI,…

Every line-of-business app shares common components, such as login, roles, permissions, tenant filtering, an admin area, and an audit log. Repeating these elements for every project can be tedious and prone to errors. To streamline this process, Coworkee has been developed as a modular framework for .NET 10 with a Blazor UI.

A module in Coworkee is simply a class marked with the [DependsOn] attribute. Importing a module automatically provides access to its entities, API endpoints, permissions, and pages. The framework handles authentication, tenant isolation, audit, real-time updates, and reporting behind the scenes, allowing developers to focus on building features instead of dealing with the underlying infrastructure.

To get started, install the Coworkee CLI tool and run `coworkee new Shop` to create a new project. The `coworkee run` command sets up Postgres, Redis, and Mailpit using .NET Aspire, followed by launching the application. The `coworkee ui` command opens Studio, a wizard that guides users through project name, theme, modules, and entities to generate the code.

Performance is crucial in modern web applications, and Coworkee delivers by loading a client entity once, then making every subsequent query in the browser. This approach can reduce query times from around 216ms to 39-56ms per query, providing a noticeably faster and more responsive user experience.

Coworkee includes several key features such as OpenIddict authentication, tenant isolation, an audit trail with undo capabilities, real-time updates, reporting, and an admin shell. The framework builds upon MudBlazor and MudBlazor.Extensions, ensuring a familiar component set for those already experienced with MudBlazor.
