Delhi-based B2B e-commerce startup Bijnis has rebranded as Zorit and successfully raised ₹27 crore in a funding round led by Sparrow Capital. The infusion of capital will be utilized to bolster its quick commerce infrastructure, broaden its product range, and fortify its partnerships with retailers across its operational markets.
The funding round saw participation from existing investors Info Edge and WaterBridge Ventures, Better Capital, and notable angel investors such as Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal, founders of Shiprocket, Xpressbees CEO Mohit Sardana, and SoftBank's Sarthak Misra.
Founded in 2015 by Siddharth Vij, Chaitanya Rathi, Siddharth Rastogi, and Sachin Chauhan, Bijnis initially operated as a digital marketplace linking manufacturers with retailers. However, in late 2024, the company pivoted to an inventory-led B2B quick-commerce model, stocking products in local dark stores to expedite replenishment for neighborhood retailers. Before its rebranding to Zorit, the startup had amassed over $43 million in funding, including a $30 million round.
In its new incarnation, Zorit empowers retailers to source products from locally stocked dark stores, with deliveries taking as little as 60 minutes, a stark contrast to the previous seven-to-eight-day delivery cycles of its online B2B model and the typical 24–48-hour fulfilment times offered by local wholesale traders. As of now, Zorit operates 12 dark stores across 12 cities, having achieved an annualized sales figure of ₹120 crore.
Nearly half of its stores have reached break-even, accounting for the expenses of liquidating unsold inventory.
Monthly ordering frequency has quintupled since the company's shift to its new model, while retailer retention beyond the six-month mark has improved fourfold. "Zorit's quick commerce model has brought a new segment of retailers into digital sourcing, with nearly 60% having never utilized an online B2B platform before," said cofounder and CEO Siddharth Vij.
Info Edge relinquished its entire ₹76.6 crore investment in Bijnis in 2023, citing persistent cash burn, limited liquidity relative to potential liabilities associated with investor buyback obligations, and uncertainty surrounding future fundraising efforts. Info Edge Ventures' partner Kitty Agarwal noted that Zorit's manufacturer-centric approach has transformed into a robust quick-commerce layer catering to small retailers, unlocking significant retailer frequency and retention while simultaneously creating heightened demand for manufacturers.
