2027: AI-generated photos cast doubt on voter register, expert warns

Nigeria's Director of the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre, Clement Nwankwo, has raised concerns over the credibility of the country's voter register ahead of the 2027 general election. Nwankwo believes that artificial intelligence-generated information and photographs may have been inserted into the database, casting doubt on its accuracy.

He questioned the increase in registered voters from over 90 million to 103 million, suggesting that the figure may not accurately represent the eligible voter population. Nwankwo emphasized the need for the government to address the credibility issues with the voter register and highlighted the lack of transparency and communication from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding its preparations for the election.
