Value Adder: Why Liverpool refuse to quit on Jarrad Branthwaite
Liverpool are refusing to give up on a pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite. Here's what our Value Adder data model tells us.Liverpool are in need of a centre-back and one name that simply refuses to go away...
Liverpool remain committed to pursuing Jarrad Branthwaite, despite the club's historically poor track record of signing players from Everton. The Reds are enticed by the value Branthwaite brings to the table as a homegrown player with several years of Premier League experience. Our Value Adder model ranks Branthwaite as the sixth most valuable centre-back in the league for the 2023/24 season, but he has since dropped to 17th in the 2024/25 season.
This decline is attributed to a significant drop in his overall impact off the ball and limited goal contributions. However, Branthwaite's defensive performance has remained consistently solid, ranking him well defensively across all three seasons. His attacking influence has declined, but our model still considers him worth exploring for clubs seeking to bolster their centre-back options.
