Timbalan Menteri Komunikasi Teo Nie Ching berkata pihak berkuasa sedang menunggu keputusan AGC berhubung siasatan itu.

Siasatan dakwaan Muhyiddin pertahan subsidi warga asing dirujuk AGC

Dewan Rakyat was informed today that the report on the case involving former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's claim of not receiving government subsidies for foreign nationals has been referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC). Communications and Multimedia Minister Teo Nie Ching stated that the authorities are currently awaiting the AGC's decision on the matter.

Teo responded to Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu), who questioned the delay in providing an answer to Rosol's query about the validity of the allegations against Muhyiddin. The Prime Minister had ordered the Communications and Multimedia Authority (SKMM) to investigate the allegation that Muhyiddin had received government subsidies for foreign nationals in August of last year.

The Communications Minister had earlier clarified that the party accepted Muhyiddin's denial that he had ever made such a statement regarding the petrol RON95 subsidy. Rosol also asked who has the authority to determine if content on the internet is false, as well as the mechanism to ensure that the MCMC does not obstruct legitimate criticism of the government.

He referred to several social media personalities, including Papagomo, who he believes faced action due to their content being removed, in addition to their electronic devices being stolen. Teo explained that SKMM is investigating claims from government agencies, authorities, and the public before requesting social media platforms to remove content accused of being unlawful.

However, he noted that the platforms will review the content independently based on legal requirements and each platform's community guidelines. The AGC and the court will play a role in the criminal prosecution process, while the accused individual retains the right to defend themselves. Earlier, Teo mentioned that the MCMC issued 65,680 requests to remove false content on the internet between January 1, 2023, and October 15, 2026, of which 56,304 were successful.
