Sangmidang seeks North American, European expansion through global partnerships

Hur Jin-soo, vice chairman of Korean bakery company Sangmidang Holdings, met with George Gellert, Chairman of the Gellert Global Group (GGG), and U.S. Ambassador to France Charles Kushner in Paris this week to explore potential partnerships in international markets. On Wednesday, Hur discussed business developments and possible cooperation with GGG executives during a meeting.

Sangmidang’s mass-market bakery subsidiary, Samlip, could collaborate with GGG to expand through U.S. supermarket and food service distribution networks, potentially entering Canada and Mexico. GGG, a U.S.-based company, sources more than 4,000 products from 60 countries and generates over $1.7 billion in annual sales. The initial discussion occurred on October 18 when Hur attended a reception for GGG's partner firms at the U.S. ambassador's residence in Paris, organized by Kushner and attended by approximately 130 representatives.
