Info Edge’s Hitesh Oberoi to step down as MD and CEO; founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani to take over

Info Edge's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hitesh Oberoi, will resign from his position on December 2, 2026, after nearly 27 years of service, including over 16 years as MD. The news of his departure was announced alongside the company's second-quarter FY27 results. Sanjeev Bikhchandani, the founder of Info Edge, will assume the roles of Executive Vice Chairman, Managing Director, and Group CEO, effective December 3, 2026, pending shareholder approval. Bikhchandani will return to active management after previously serving as Executive Vice Chairman.

Oberoi will retain his association with the company, subject to shareholder approval, and will continue to serve as a Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director on the board. The CEO's decision to step back from his full-time executive role stems from his desire to dedicate more time to education, entrepreneurship, institution building, investing, and philanthropy, as well as spending more time with his family.

In a statement, Oberoi expressed that after nearly 27 years, it was the right time for him to begin transitioning out of his full-time operating role, acknowledging that he would miss the colleagues and teams that made those years special.

Bikhchandani, who has built Info Edge together with Oberoi for over 27 years, highlighted their shared history. During Oberoi's tenure, which spans much of the company's growth, Info Edge's market capitalization expanded from Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 80,000 crore. The company boasts a strong institutional foundation, supported by senior leaders who have been with Info Edge for more than 20 years.

Observers will be closely monitoring how the leadership change impacts Info Edge's core recruitment business and broader strategy. The move follows the resignation of CFO Chintan Thakkar in November 2025, with co-promoter Ambarish Raghuvanshi stepping in as interim CFO.
