IEC delcares Results Operations Centre fit for purpose
The ROC will serve as the engine room for the capture and release of results
On the eve of South Africa's upcoming elections on November 4th, the Electoral Commission (IEC) has declared its results system to be fully operational and fit for purpose. Today, the IEC inaugurated the National Results Operations Centre (ROC) at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg. This ROC will act as the central hub for the collection and dissemination of results from the 23,000 voting stations nationwide.
It will also serve as the command center overseeing the electoral process, enabling various stakeholders, including political party representatives, independent candidates, and the media, to monitor the polls' integrity.
IEC CEO Sy Mamabolo stated, "To ensure that this system functions effectively and maintains robust cyber security, it has undergone independent testing and auditing. Although the audit process did uncover certain findings, we are pleased to report that these issues have now been rectified. The IEC hereby declares the results system as ready and fit for purpose."
