Houston Astros coach Jason Bell departing for role with Boston Red Sox
Jason Bell, who spent 10 seasons with the Astros in various roles, is leaving the organization despite being among the holdovers following a coaching staff shakeup.
Houston Astros major-league field coordinator Jason Bell is set to transition to a role with the Boston Red Sox. The coach, who has worked with the Astros organization for 10 years, will leave his position with the Astros after this season. Bell served as the team's quality assurance coach for two seasons before taking on his current role, and he spent five years as the minor-league field coordinator.
His departure was first reported by MLB.com. The Red Sox have not yet determined the specific role Bell will assume on their staff. The Astros have not filled managerial or general manager vacancies since dismissing Dana Brown in mid-August.
