Frankfurt-based investment firm DWS unexpectedly collected record amounts of investor money during the summer quarter, amounting to 30.9 billion euros from July to September. This figure was shared by the Frankfurt-listed subsidiary of Deutsche Bank on Wednesday. However, earnings and profit growth in comparison to the previous year were far from the expectations of analysts.
DWS increased its earnings by four percent to 784 million euros in comparison to the previous year. The pre-tax profit grew by two percent to 325 million euros, while the surplus increased by five percent to 230 million euros. Nevertheless, the company's costs consumed a larger portion of the earnings, with the cost-to-revenue ratio worsening from 57.7 to 58.6 percent.
DWS executives had already informed shareholders about the expected receipt of performance-related earnings for the year, mainly in the first and fourth quarters. CEO Stefan Hoops remained confident in achieving his targets for 2026, with the profit per share expected to rise by 10 to 15 percent this year. In the first nine months, the profit had already increased by 16 percent.
The company has not yet achieved its cost targets, aiming for costs to consume only 55 to 57 percent of earnings this year, compared to 57.7 percent in the first nine months.
