Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has urged the people of Ijebuland to exercise patience and support a peaceful succession process as preparations are underway to select a new Awujale of Ijebuland. The vacancy of the Awujale stool arose after Oba Sikiru Adetona passed away in July 2025, having reigned for 65 years. During a stakeholders' meeting in Ijebu-Ode, the governor assured that his administration was committed to ensuring the process is handled peacefully and supported by the populace.
The traditional institution holds significant importance for Ijebuland's cultural heritage, identity, and unity.
