Who is Jacob Morley? Manhunt Underway After Killer Escapes Tennessee Prison
Jacob Morley was serving a life sentence for the murder of his co-workier four years ago.
A manhunt is currently in progress for Jacob Morley, a convicted murderer who broke out of a Tennessee prison by crawling through a fence and stealing a vehicle. Morley, who was serving a life sentence for the 2022 murder of his coworker Cody Birchfield, was reported missing from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville around 11:30 PM on Sunday.
Security footage revealed Morley escaping while still in his prison uniform, though further details regarding the method of his escape were not disclosed. The investigation has focused on reviewing security footage from the vicinity of the prison, which is situated approximately 90 miles north of Memphis in a remote, rural area near the Mississippi River.
Law enforcement agencies have offered a reward of up to $2,500 for Morley's apprehension. Standing at 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 240 pounds, Morley is described as having brown hair and green eyes. Prior to his escape, Morley was convicted of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence, vandalism, and evading arrest.
His first encounter with law enforcement occurred when he fled from his home in Carter County following Birchfield's discovery, leading authorities on a chase that ultimately concluded in North Carolina. This unfolding incident is being reported in real-time.
