Who is Eric Swalwell and what did he do?

Eric Swalwell is a disgraced former California politician who resigned from Congress in April 2026 amid multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. The FBI conducted a raid on a Beverly Hills mansion belonging to Stephen Cloobeck, a billionaire supporter of Swalwell's gubernatorial campaign, in connection with the investigation. Cloobeck had initially invited Swalwell to stay at his mansion due to concerns about the politician's mental stability, but later asked him to leave after the allegations surfaced.

Swalwell has denied criminal wrongdoing but has apologized for his past mistakes and admitted to being the subject of false allegations.
