Sundowns bounce back to winning ways
Siyanda Ndlovu scored the only goal of the match as the Brazilians returned to winning ways.
Mamelodi Sundowns secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Marumo Gallants, advancing to the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout competition. Siyanda Ndlovu scored the lone goal, sparking cheers from the home crowd at Loftus Versfeld. Miguel Cardoso, the coach, made significant changes to the lineup, dropping players who had contributed to Sundowns' recent CAF Champions League exit.
Experienced defender Mothobi Mvala was given the captaincy in the absence of key players. While Gallants put up a fight, Sundowns' goalkeeper Ricardo Goss made crucial saves throughout the match. The win avenged Sundowns' loss to Gallants in the same competition the previous season and sets the stage for a match against Durban City in the Betway Premiership.
