Realtor hacked to death in Poothurai near Auroville

A 46-year-old man was brutally murdered by an armed gang near Auroville in Villupuram district on Monday night. The victim, identified as Rajendra Kumar, alias "Seizing" Kumar, resided in Jeevanandapuram, Puducherry. He had a few pending cases against him. According to police reports, Kumar traveled by car with friends to Poothurai, where they consumed liquor.

An armed gang, tracking his movements, allegedly attacked him with sharp weapons and fled the scene. Upon receiving information, police from Gorimedu and Auroville stations arrived at the location, near the inter-state border with Puducherry. The police established that the area fell within the jurisdiction of the Auroville police limits, retrieved the body, and sent it to a private medical college and hospital in Kalapet. A case has been registered, and further investigations are underway.
